Astana Mining and Metallurgy 2012: dialogue between Government and the business and scientific communities

The Kazakhstan Mining & Metallurgy Days will be opened this year by Astana Mining and Metallurgy 2012, taking place from 4th to 6th July in Astana’s Palace of Independence.

The Kazakhstan Mining & Metallurgy Days are a week of mining and metallurgy events also consisting of the 3rd Congress of Workers of the Mining and Metallurgy Industry in Kazakhstan, the Innovations for Metallurgy and Mining round table, and the Golden Hephaestus industry competition.

Divided into sections for geologists, miners, and metallurgists, Astana Mining and Metallurgy is an event covering every aspect of the mining and metallurgical industries, from exploration, extraction, and processing to the manufacturing the finished product. An exhibition will also take place within the congress, with domestic manufacturers and organisations showcasing their products and research.

Among the high-level speakers taking part in Astana Mining and Metallurgy 2012 are Karim Masimov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Asset Isekeshev, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Eduard Orai, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys; Chris Welton, Central Asian Director of Rio Tinto; Corina Hebestreit, Managing Director of Euromines; Mazhit Turmagambetov, Chairman of the Board of Tau-Ken Samruk; and Nikolai Radostovets, Executive Director of the Association of Mining and Metallurgy Enterprises of Kazakhstan, who will all be joined by a range of Government figures and industry leaders.

The Kazakhstan Mining & Metallurgy Days have been organised by the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The 3rd Congress of Workers of the Mining and Metallurgy Industry in Kazakhstan is organised by the Association of Mining and Metallurgy Enterprises of Kazakhstan in partnership with the union of Workers of the Mining and Metallurgical Industry.

The Kazakhstan Mining & Metallurgy Days are officially supported by the Astana City Administration, Tau-Ken Samruk, the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, and the National Centre for Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
