Mining engineers and metallurgists from 15 countries will attend the AMM Congress

The 6th International Mining and Metallurgy Congress and Exhibition "Astana Mining & Metallurgy 2015" - AMM 2015 will be held on June 17-18, at the Palace of Independence in Astana.

The main theme of the AMM 2015 Congress: "Mining & Metallurgy Industrial Policy: Investment, Modernization, Production".

The organizers of the Congress are: the Ministry for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstani exhibition company Iteca and its international partner ITE Group Plc (UK).

B2B and G2B business meetings will be organized as part of AMM 2015 for the first time. This is a unique opportunity to have effective individual negotiations with the industry leaders such as "Kazzinc", "KAZ Minerals", "Kazakhmys", "ERG", "Tau-Ken Samruk", "Kazgeology".

This year's another innovation of АММ 2015 will be a series of presentations "Made in Kazakhstan for Mining & Metallurgical Industry", where domestic suppliers of equipment, technologies, overalls, petrochemicals, and other goods and services for mining companies will be able to make their presentations.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Karim Massimov, Minister of Mines and Mining of Afghanistan Mr. Daud Shah Saba, Vice-President of the Korean National Corporation "Korea Resources Corporation" KOPEC Mr. Shin Ki Hym and others will address at the plenary session of the forum.

About 650 delegates from over 15 countries of the world are expected to attend the forum. The Congress will be visited by official delegations from Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea and France.

Certain specialized events will be held as a part of the AMM:

• Round table "Prospects for development of coal industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan" supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan
• Round table "Development of gold mining industry, introduction of new technologies in the refining companies, and consolidation of efforts in the processing of Kazakhstani raw materials containing precious metals" supported by "Tau-Ken Altyn".
• Round table "Energy efficiency as a factor of mining and metallurgical industry development" supported by EY, National Center on Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
• A series of presentations "Made in France: increased productivity with French companies" supported by the French Embassy.
• Round table "Human Resources for MMI" supported by AMME

The Congress will conclude with a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the National industrial contest "Golden Hephaestus", General Partner of the contest is "ERG" LLC. 109 applications in 12 categories have been filed to participate in the contest.

"Kazzinc", "ERG", "KAZ Minerals", "Kazakhmys Corporation", "Aktobe Copper Company", "Kazakhaltyn" and "SAP" are among the regular participants of AMM 2015.

AMM 2015 will be held under the official support and participation of "Samruk-Kazyna", "Tau-Ken Samruk", "Kazgeology", "AMME", "NCE", "World Mining Congress" and "CERBA".

For information: By results of 2014, the share of MMI in total industrial production structure is 18%. For January-December of 2014, the volume of metal ores mining amounted to 882.3 billion tenge in current prices, including iron ore mining, which is 223.3 billion tenge. Non-ferrous metal ores mining amounted to 658.9 billion tenge. For January-December of 2014, the production volume of the metallurgical industry amounted to 1,915.2 billion tenge. As compared to the same period of 2013, IAV (index of actual volume) amounted to 100.2%. At the same time, the production volume of basic precious and non-ferrous metals amounted to 1,141.9 billion tenge. For January-December of 2014, the production volume of finished metal products, except machinery and equipment, amounted to 150.2 billion tenge (IAV - 95.1%).

The Industrialization Roadmap projects have introduced products, which have never been manufactured in Kazakhstan before. These are aluminum rod at JSC "KazEnergoKabel", steel wall radiators at "Kazterm" LLC, bulk concentrate of rare-earth metals at JV "SARECO" LLC, titanium ingots and slabs at JSC "Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant", seamless pipes at "KSP Steel".

These projects are indicators of performance in terms of adoption of base metals and manufacture of higher value-added products.
