Spotlight Falls on Kazakhstan’s Mining and Metallurgy Industry

The mining and metallurgy industry in Kazakhstan comes under the spotlight from 4th to 6th July 2012 in Astana’s Palace of Independence when leading figures in the sector meet at the Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress and the Congress of Mining and Metallurgy Industry Workers.

The combined event, known as the Kazakhstan Mining & Metallurgy Days is likely to attract over 1000 industry professionals.

The concept behind the Kazakhstan Mining & Metallurgy Days is to support the Kazakhstan Government’s objectives and policies to increase competitive exports, improve product quality and provide the necessary skills and training for the personnel who will bring the country’s mining and metallurgy sector to greater international prominence. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and New Technologies describe the event as key for the country’s mining and metallurgy sector which is a strategic branch of the national economy.

Kazakhstan has abundant natural resources with almost 100 elements discovered and 60 being recovered. The Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress (AMM) provides a platform for open discussions about the strategic challenges faced by the industry and an unrivalled opportunity to explore international partnerships.

The Congress’ agenda covers exploration, production and processing and includes a plenary session and a number of panel sessions that will benefit senior level professionals from the fields of geology, mining and metallurgy. Speakers will attend from several countries and will be led by Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister, Karim Massimov and the Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Aset Issekeshev. They will be joined by numerous high profile industry leaders, who will share their thoughts and understanding about the latest developments in the sector.

The event is endorsed by an impressive array of sponsors who include Kazzinc, ENRC and ArcelorMittal and anyone wishing to participate in the Congress should visit www.amm.kz.
