The Kazakhstan Mining & Metallurgy Days will take place on 4-6 July 2012 in Astana’s Palace of Independence.

This project, unprecedented in the industry, was announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan as an annual key event for the country’s mining and metallurgy industry.

More than 1,000 people will take part in the two major events on the Mining & Metallurgy Days’ agenda – the 3rd Astana Mining & Metallurgy International Congress (AMM 2012) and the 3rd Congress of Mining and Metallurgy Industry Workers.

The concept of the Kazakhstan Mining and Metallurgy Days meets the basic objectives of the Government’s industrial and innovation policies aimed to increase competitive exports and make high added-value products, implement innovative designs and provide high-quality training of industry personnel who are supposed to bring Kazakhstan’s metallurgy and mining to prominence.

Day One will feature the 3rd Astana Mining & Metallurgy International Congress (AMM 2012).  The Congress offers a platform open for discussions of strategic problems encountered by Kazakhstan’s mining and metallurgy industry and of international partnerships.  The key topic of the forum is Exploration.  Production.  Processing.  The Congress’s agenda includes a plenary session and three panels sessions: for geologists, miners, and metallurgists.  Speeches are planned by over 20 speakers from Kazakhstan, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Russia, and Turkey.  Business owners and government representatives from leading global mining powers, ambassadors of participating countries, industry associations, and international mining and metallurgy companies will participate in АММ 2012 Congress.  The event’s significance is endorsed by an impressive range of АММ 2012 Congress sponsors: KazZinc as Diamond Sponsor, ENRC and ArcelorMittal as Gold Sponsors, Altyntau as Silver Sponsor, and WorleyParsons Kazakhstan as Bronze Sponsor.  Air Astana is the official air carrier.

Winners of the Golden Hephaestus, the national industry competition, will be announced during the Mining and Metallurgy Days, and industry awards will be presented to recognise the achievements in geology, metallurgy, mining, and coal industry.  ENRC is General Partner of the Golden Hephaestus.  The Congress agenda also includes roundtables – Innovations in Metallurgy and Mining and HR in Metallurgy and Mining.

Day Two will feature the 3rd Congress of Mining and Metallurgy Industry Workers held by the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AGMP).  Its traditional participants include delegates from industrial enterprises and trade unions, as well as managers of government bodies.  This is a solid platform for a dialogue and discussions on the most pressing issues in the industry with regard to production upgrades and development of the Kazakhstan content, social partnership, creating new jobs, and staffing for the enterprises.

The achievements of the mining and metallurgy industry in Kazakhstan will be put on display at the exhibition, which takes place alongside the Mining & Metallurgy Days.  The exhibition’s structure is organised thematically into sections for industry, innovation, service and education.  Exhibitors include mining companies, processing factories, scientific centres and research institutes, and consulting and financial organisations, alongside universities, colleges and training centres which specialise in the industry.  This year, the organisers of the Congress, Iteca and ITE Group, are planning to extend participation to include foreign companies.

The main organiser of the Mining & Metallurgy Days is the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  The 3rd Congress of Mining and Metallurgy Industry Workers is organised by the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AGMP) in partnership with the Republican Trade Union of Mining and Metallurgical Workers.  АММ 2012 Congress is organised by Iteca Kazakhstan Exhibition Company and ITE Group Plc, UK.  Official support is provided by the Almaty City Administration, Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, Tau-Ken Samruk JSC, and the National Centre for Complex Processing of Mineral Raw Materials of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
