STM VERTICAL MILL COMMISSIONED AT U.S. STEEL KEETAC IRON ORE MINING OPERATION IN MINNESOTA, USA
The U.S. Steel announced successful launch and operational readiness of its DRI pellet plant at the Keetac iron ore complex in Minnesota. The plant's capacity will be approximately 4 million tons of pellets annually. The project includes installation of energy efficient technologies and new emission controls at the plant, expansion of mining and stockpiling, upgraded concentrating and agglomerating processes, a vertical expansion of the tailings basin, and construction of a biomass processing facility.
The modernization of the Keetac concentrator plant involved the installation of the world's largest 6500 KW vertical stirred mill from Swiss Tower Mills Minerals AG.
We are pleased to report the seamless incorporation of STM's cutting-edge grinding technology and are optimistic about the continued success of operations at the Keetac iron ore complex.
Introducing innovations that boost production capacity and simultaneously reduce environmental impact is a win-win scenario for US Steel. By leveraging these advancements, the company can enhance its competitive edge while contributing positively to environmental sustainability. It's a testament to the importance of balancing economic growth with responsible stewardship of natural resources.
