FROM THE DEPTHS OF THE EARTH TO THE HEIGHTS OF INTELLECT: THE AMM 2026 CONGRESS AND EXHIBITION WILL BE HELD IN ASTANA

ON JUNE 11-12, 2026, THE 16TH INTERNATIONAL MINING AND METALLURGY CONGRESS AND EXHIBITION ASTANA MINING & METALLURGY (AMM) WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE HILTON ASTANA HOTEL IN ASTANA.

The event traditionally brings together key representatives of the mining and metallurgical complex, international investors, technology suppliers, government bodies, and industry experts to discuss the future of one of Kazakhstan's strategically important economic sectors.

Industrial dynamics confirm the sustainable development of the sector. According to the Bureau of National Statistics, in 2025, the industrial production index in Kazakhstan was 107.6%, with the mining industry showing growth of almost 9–10%, reflecting an increase in coal, oil, gas, and other mineral extraction. Considering related industries—engineering, logistics, energy, and services—the impact of the mining and metallurgical complex on the economy becomes even more significant: the total contribution can reach up to a quarter of the entire country's economy.

In these conditions, the industry needs new technological solutions, investments, international partnerships, and effective dialogue between business and government. This is the role that AMM fulfills, acting as a key platform for discussing strategic directions for industry development, implementing innovations, and forming international cooperation.

Exhibition component: technologies and solutions for the mining and metallurgical industry

Simultaneously with the congress, an international specialized exhibition will be held, showcasing modern technological solutions for the mining and metallurgical industry. The exhibition covers a wide range of areas—from geological exploration and extraction to raw material processing, metallurgy, production process automation, and industrial safety.

Participants of the exhibition will include companies from Germany, Kazakhstan, Canada, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, and Sweden. Additionally, national groups from Canada, Saudi Arabia, the USA, and Sweden are planned to participate.

New participants in the exhibition include: INCO engineering, ABP Engineering, David Brown Santasalo, and Actuator Service.

Among regular partners and participants are the largest suppliers of equipment and technologies for the mining industry.

The exhibition traditionally serves as an effective platform for business negotiations and contract signing. Last year, the event was attended by almost 2,900 unique industry specialists, and 50 companies participated in the exhibition.

AMM Congress: strategic dialogue about the future of the industry

The central part of the event will be the business program of the congress, which will be held under the motto "From the depths of the earth to the heights of intellect," reflecting the transformation of the mining and metallurgical industry in the era of digitalization and technological innovations.

The program traditionally includes a plenary session, thematic panels, industry forums, and expert discussions with the participation of business representatives, government bodies, and international organizations.

First day of the congress — strategic issues of industry development and "Golden Hephaestus"

The first day of the event will begin with a plenary session on the topic "From the depths to the heights of intellect: global partnership for the future of the mining and metallurgical complex," which will bring together industry leaders and representatives of international organizations. The further program includes a series of parallel sessions dedicated to key issues of industry development.

One of the central topics will be the dialogue on critical minerals in the C5+1 format, where the role of Central Asia in global supply chains of strategic resources will be discussed.

Within the thematic panels, participants will consider issues of international metal trade, including the development of global markets and the prospects for the region's export potential.

Separate sessions will be devoted to the investment climate and regulatory environment in the mining and metallurgical complex, as well as discussions on current taxation issues in the industry.

An important part of the discussions will be the topic of critical minerals, with special attention given to copper as a strategic metal necessary for the energy transition and the development of high-tech industries.

The program also includes a round table with ministers, dedicated to issues of international cooperation and strategic dialogue.

The first day will conclude with a solemn award ceremony for the National Industry Competition "Golden Hephaestus," which annually recognizes the achievements of companies and specialists in the mining and metallurgical complex. The general partner of the competition is traditionally Eurasian Resources Group (ERG).

Second day: technology, innovation, and sustainable development

The second day of the congress will be dedicated to the practical aspects of industry development and the implementation of innovative technologies. One of the key topics will be the use of artificial intelligence in the extraction and processing of minerals. Experts will present practical cases of digital technology implementation and discuss challenges related to the digital transformation of enterprises.

Significant attention will be paid to the coal industry and its sustainable development, as well as the work of the Kazakhstan Gold Industry Forum, which will bring together representatives of gold mining companies and relevant organizations.

Within the technological sessions, participants will consider digital solutions for sustainable mining production, as well as the prospects for transitioning metallurgy to deeper processing and creating high value-added products.

A separate discussion will be dedicated to industrial safety issues, which remain one of the key factors for the sustainable development of enterprises.

The business program will conclude with a foresight session, where moderators of strategic panels will summarize the discussions and formulate key conclusions and recommendations for the further development of the industry.

Networking and industrial tour

In addition to the business program, participants will be able to attend B2B and B2G meetings, which will be held in a special networking area and will allow for direct business contacts between companies, investors, and government structures.

On June 13, a field trip to the Qarmet company enterprise is planned for congress delegates, where participants will be able to familiarize themselves with modern production processes and technological solutions in metallurgy.

A special place in the exhibition area is occupied by the space for business meetings and negotiations, consistently partnered by Komatsu—a global leader in mining equipment production.
