New Research Center in Karaganda by I-Geo Kazakhstan
I-Geo Kazakhstan has launched a major project under a state-funded scientific and technical program titled "Establishment of a Scientific and Engineering Center for Advanced Technologies in Mineral Deposit Development" (Contract No. 421/PCF24-26 dated October 1, 2024, signed between I-Geo Kazakhstan and the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The new research center in Karaganda will feature seven state-of-the-art laboratories, each dedicated to addressing key challenges in the mining industry:
- Development of technologies for methane extraction from coal seams.
- Advanced coal processing with gas-hydrodynamic characterization.
- Innovation in drilling technologies.
- Studies of geodynamic and gas-dynamic processes.
- Geomechanical research on rock formations.
- Prevention and control of endogenous mine fires.
- Environmental safety monitoring and assessment of mining operations’ impact.
The center will be equipped with cutting-edge instruments and specialized software, ensuring a high level of scientific research and the development of effective solutions for the mining industry.
