New workshop starts work at Aktyubinsk chromium compounds plant

At the largest and the only domestic enterprise in the chemical industry specialising in the production of chromium salts, the APCC plant launched a new workshop No. 5 for the production of pigment chromium oxide with a capacity of 6 thousand tonnes of products per year. The project cost is 1.7 billion tenge. Only own funds of the company were invested.

“APCC was founded in 1957. We are currently producing sodium bichromate, which is used in large quantities in the textile industry, in machinery to prevent corrosion, in the chemical industry for the production of dyes. Chromium sulfate is used in the leather and fur industry for tanning leather. Chromic anhydride is used in the production of organic synthesis, in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as in engineering and instrumentation for electrolytic chromium plating, decorative, anti-corrosion chromium plating. Metallurgical chromium oxide is used in the metallurgical industry for the manufacture of chromium used in the manufacture of heat-resistant and alloyed steels. Potassium bichromate is used in the match industry, pyrotechnics, in the production of dry electric batteries. Directly, chromium oxide pigment is widely used in the paint industry,” the Chairman of the Board of APCC, Alexey Khimich, said.

According to him, today the company employs over 2 thousand people. The opening of the new workshop allowed the creation of an additional 95 jobs. The company has a wide market for products in foreign countries and has strong partnerships in CIS countries.

“The city is growing and we need new jobs. The commissioning of the new workshop allowed the creation of 95 new jobs. The only problematic issue is the price of raw materials, which has grown. This issue will be resolved. The plant needs highly qualified specialists. We come to the conclusion that all workers should have an appropriate education. All unskilled labor must do the machine. The more new productions will be opened, the more additional jobs will be created,” Aktobe city mayor, Ilyas Ispanov, said.

Separately, the mayor focused on environmental issues. “One of the main tasks is to ensure proper attention to the ecology of our city. During his recent visit to Aktobe, the President of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev, set the task to improve the environment,” the Mayor of Aktobe said.

In turn, Alexey Khimich noticed that special electric precipitators were installed at the plant to prevent harmful emissions.
