KAZAKHSTAN-CANADA: ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES WILL FORM THE BASIS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF JOINT PROJECTS IN THE MMC

Astana, June 1-2, 2023 - At the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Canada, industry giants Nutrien, Teck Resources, Barrick Gold, Hatch, B2Gold and Cameco Corporation arrived in Kazakhstan to conduct negotiations with the Government of Kazakhstan and participate in the Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress.

Canadian business representatives met with Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.Karabayev and participated in Strategic and Technical Sessions of the Mining & Metallurgy Congress. About 50 B2B meetings were devoted to the implementation of promising projects and discussion on the initiative of creation of the so-called North American Hub of mining companies in Kazakhstan for the whole Central Asian region.

Participants of the Canadian business mission positively assessed progress of Kazakhstan's subsoil use reforms as well as joint government-business efforts to develop the geological industry. "The resource potential of Kazakhstan has not been fully exploited and Canadian companies, with their considerable experience and advanced technology, can contribute to this process," said Canadian businessmen.

A special session on "Kazakhstan-Canadа cooperation in natural resources extraction and processing" was held during the Congress in Astana with active participation of business representatives of both countries. The programme of the session included speeches and presentations from the management of MIID, MFA, AIFC and Qaztrade, as well as representatives of various business associations and the financial sector.
